Peddapuram Municipality is 4th largest ULB in the East Godavari district of A.P.  It is spread over an area of 41.15 Sq.kms. with a population of 49,579 (2011 census). It is known for / famous for its Rice Mills and Industrial
Location:
It is located 250 Kms. from Capital city and 20 kms. from District Headquarters.  It was established as 3rd grade Municipality in the year 1915
There are 5  zones / and 28 election wards in this Municipality.
Topography:
Peddapuram  is town and a municipality in East Godavari District in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Peddapuram is located at Latitude 17o08’00” Longitude  82o13. ” It is the Headquarters of the Mandal as well as the Revenue Division and is located at about 20 Kms from Kakinada,. The town is an extent of 41.15  Sq.Km.   
Climate and Rainfall:
Peddapuram Town, in general, has a tropical climate, winters last from November to February, while summers last from March to June.  The annual rainfall is 1050 mm, most of it received during the months of July to September.
Demography:
The population of the town which was 45,520 in 2001 increased to 49,579  in 2011 with an increase of 8.91% in the last decade.  The sex ratio is 968 females per 1000 males.  The literacy rate is  72.83% of the male population and 65.94% of the female population are literate.
Economy:
As per the Budget for the year 2015-16 Annual Reciept for the Municipality from all the available sources like property taxes, Water taxes, Education Taxes, License fees, Remuneration enterprises and Town Planning Department extra is expected to be around Including all Government Grants comes to          Rs. 3.10 crores for the financial year 2015-16.
The Annual Expenditure for the Financial Year as an abstract of various Heads is arrived including all Government Grants as Rs. 4.00 crores. Hence, it is concluded that the overall net economy of this Municipality is Rs. 4.53 crores for the Financial Year 2015-16.
Environmental Issues:
There are certain Environmental trendy programmes are being implemented in this Municipality as per the Guidelines and Instructions of the Government & Central Government issued from time to time under Solid Waste Management 2000 rules as well as IHHL Toilets construction implementing under Swacha Bharath and Swacha Andhra in this Municipality. A Drive for Mas Plantation was also conducted and planted 7667 No. of seedings under Tree plantation programme.

There are certain welfare activities for Urban Poor have been taken up in this Municipality as sanctioned by the Government under various schemes.

History:
The town Peddapuram is founded by Maharaja Vatsavi Peddapathrudu.  For 300 years the estate of Peddapuram was ruled by Vatsavai Jagapathi Maharaja’s.  The dynasty was started by Sri Raja Vatsavai Chathurbhuja Thimma Jagapathi Bahadhur.  The fort of Peddapuram was built by him.
From 1791 to 1804 estate was ruled by Sri Vatsavai Raya jagapathi.
By the time of 1785 the Peddapuram Estate extended from Thotapalli to Nagaram encompassing 585 villages and towns.
Raja jaggapathi’s widow Buchi Seethayyamma, ruled from 1828-1835.  She founded tow trusts for the poor, one in Peddapuram and another in Kathipudi.  Even today the poor are fed for free twice a day.  
With no heir, the estate was briefly ruled by Sri Suryanarayan jagapathi Bahadhur until 1847, when it was taken over completely by the British East India Company and made the town a revenue division and built the Munsif court and a Lutheran High School.
The Vatsavai Maharajas patronized poets such as Enugula Lakshmana Kavi and Vedula Satyanarayana Sastry.
Pandavula Metta is located in Peddapuram and has a mythical history.  You can find some ancient caves with the supposed footprints of Bhima (Pandavas).
