          Jaggayyapet Municipality is 3rd largest ULB in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. It is spread over an area of 23.05 Sq. Kms with a population of 53,530 (2011 Census) it is known for famous for its heritage and culture. It was established as 3rd Grade Municipality in the Year 1982.This Municipality is upgraded as IInd grade in the year 2009. There are 27 election wards and 15 revenue blocks in this municipality.It is located 110 Kms. from the State capital city and 140 Kms. from District Head Quarters.

Climate and Rainfall:

          Jaggayyapet Town, in general, has a tropical climate, winters last from November to February, while summers last from March and June. The annual rainfall is 150 mm, most of it received during the months of July to October

Demography:

          The population of the town which was 40373 In 2001 increased to 53469 in 2011 with an increase of 32.43% in the last decade. The sex ratio is …… females per 1000 males. The literacy rate is 71.94 % 76.98% of the male population and 66.99 % of the female population are literate.

Economy:

         Jaggayyapet town is surrounded by 8 cement industries and generating employment to the peoples of town not only direct employment indirect employment includes transport of goods such as cement and lime from this area transported to various places of the state. The town peoples are getting employment in the industries and other business activities to provide market for the industries employees such as hotels and other business including logistics, making of ornaments is main activity of some peoples in the town gold market is famous from ancient times.

Environmental Issues: 

         Jaggayyapet town is biodiversified with flora and fauna in Municipality. The town is bounded with major lake urachervu which is around 150 acres in area giving habitation to the many number of birds and animals,and maintaining hydrological cycle of the town, the green belt in the urban is profounded with various types of plants . Cement industries are located  surrounding of the town in rural areas, the paleru river flowing south side of the town which is a tributary of Krishna Jaggayyapet Town is plastic carry bags free city and litter free zones are established in the town for maintaining hygenic conditions.

Urban Poor:

          There are 21 slums in this town with population of 20476.All basic amenities has been providing to the slum dwellers with the help of welfare schemes. Peoples are provided loans for improvement of their livelihood. Trainings were also conducted to upgrade the skills among the the poor peoples to eliminate poverty in the urban poor with help of MEPMA.

History & Culture:

          Jaggaiahpeta is a  town in Krishna district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is also the mandal headquarters of Jaggayyapet mandal . The town is located on the banks of the Paleru River which is a tributary of the Krishna River.

           About 180 years ago, the region surrounding Jaggaiahpeta was governed by a ruler, by name Sri Rajah VasireddyVenkatadriNayudu, who was famous for his piety and devotion and for the construction of many a temples in honor of Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu. It is said that he founded two towns, namely, Jaggaiahpeta, named after his father Jaggayya, and Achampeta, named after his mother Atchamma. The founding of the towns by VenkatadriNayudu.Records of the Government suggest founder of the town was VenkatadriNayudu, developed and named the village Betavolu to Jaggaiahpeta. The Buddhism flowed in the jaggayyapet in ancient time  with monks roamed around danamboard area and constructed buddastupa in dhanam bodu

         jaggayyapet town is diversified with all groups of communities including all religions and all communities peoples living happily and having all gods and goddess temples including the ancient temples of sathanavahana and ikshaka rulers are existing now. The mosques and churches of RCM, CSI  also very famous churches in the town, the tribal community peoples in the town are banjara are differently cultured with their dress and languages.The danamboard area earlier the Buddhist monks roamed in that area
